We are thrilled to share that we have received very constructive feedback from everyone who completed our recent Employee Engagement Survey. A big thank you to everyone who took the time to participate - 86% of our staff completed the survey, helping us to highlight our commitment to excellence. While we celebrate our successes, we also acknowledge areas where we can improve and are dedicated to addressing them moving forward.

Introducing Royal Team Moments: 

We are excited to introduce "Royal Team Moments," our new Instagram handle dedicated to showcasing our vibrant culture and employee experiences at The Royal Portfolio. Created in collaboration between the HR and Marketing teams, this platform aims to provide a glimpse into life at The Royal Portfolio for potential candidates and the wider community.


Employees are encouraged to follow the Instagram account as well as share their memorable moments at work by tagging @royalteammoments and using the hashtag #RoyalTeamMoments. Selected photos will be featured on the account, allowing us to highlight the unique aspects of working at The Royal Portfolio.


Events

We recently hosted a memorable Valentine's Day celebration, welcoming both our valued guests and members of the community. The feedback from the evening was nothing short of phenomenal, reflecting our team's dedication to creating exceptional experiences.


We have been hard at work creating captivating content for our guests. A recent photoshoot, featuring various locations on our property, will be utilised for standardised packaging, enhancing the overall guest experience. We're proud to empower our staff to take initiative and have fun while delivering exceptional service.


We also had the pleasure of welcoming back a couple who got engaged on our property a year ago. Their return visit has provided an opportunity to reminisce about their previous experience and create new memories with their family. We're delighted to go above and beyond to make their stay with us unforgettable.

As we look ahead, we're excited to announce the final preparations for our first wedding in March. Led by the dedicated team at La Residence, this event promises to be nothing short of spectacular. Stay tuned for more details and images from this unforgettable occasion.


PROPERTIES UPDATE

Birkenhead House

We received excellent feedback from valued guests who stayed with us recently. Their heartfelt words of appreciation remind us of the impact we have on our guests' experiences. From exceptional service to memorable magic moments, our team's dedication shines through in every interaction. Enriching lives through luxury travel.

We would like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our team during one of our busiest months. Despite the challenges we've faced, it's moments like these that remind us why we do what we do. Our commitment to making every guest experience exceptional is truly commendable, and we're grateful for each member's contribution.


Throughout the busy season, we have remained committed to our social responsibility and community engagement. From supporting the night shelter to providing assistance to those in need, we're proud to make a positive impact beyond our property walls. These efforts reflect our core values and commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.


The Silo Hotel

We recently sponsored a Penguin at SANCCOB on behalf of our guests, which was a heartwarming gesture.

On Valentine's Day, we were thrilled to witness outstanding customer satisfaction. During our Valentine's dinner, our F&B team served exceptional meals that received rave reviews. The entire team worked tirelessly to ensure our guests enjoyed a complete and perfect stay.

Our team was actively involved in spreading love and joy on Valentine's Day. We distributed mini cupcakes and Belgian hot chocolate, adding a touch of warmth to the occasion. We value our employees' engagement and commitment to creating memorable experiences for our guests.

As part of our ongoing commitment to social responsibility, we visited Leliebloem on the 7th of February to brighten their day with pre-Valentine gifts, including cupcakes that brought smiles to the faces of the children. Additionally, a number of our team members participated in Ladles of Love's golf day, supporting a feeding scheme for the community.


La Residence

We recently had the pleasure of hosting delightful guests who celebrated a special milestone - a 70th birthday. Surrounded by picturesque waterside views, the festivities were nothing short of extraordinary. Despite a bit of disappointment in their horse's race results, our guests cherished every moment, raising their champagne glasses and indulging in delightful treats.


In recognition of hard work and dedication, we are proud to announce Precious Siduka (Housekeeper) as our Employee of the Month. Her commitment to excellence in housekeeping has not gone unnoticed, and we extend our heartfelt congratulations to her.


Furthermore, Chef Greg Henderson (Executive Chef) has been instrumental in imparting valuable skills to our team, including the art of filleting whole fish. This dedication to training ensures that we continue to deliver high-quality, ethically sourced dishes to our guests.

We are also proud to share the achievement of Aviwe Ntjuna (Demi Chef), who has been selected for an internship in France, a testament to her culinary talents and dedication to excellence.


Our team members continually go above and beyond to create memorable experiences for our guests. Recently, Senior Duty Manager, Ayrton Hough, delighted guests with a thoughtful gesture, going the extra mile to personalise gifts for a family staying in our Vineyard suites. This level of care and attention to detail truly sets us apart.


As Valentine's Day approached, our talented chefs crafted exquisite dishes that left our guests enchanted. We also treated the whole team to some lovely treats and the smiles on our team's faces were a testament to the love and dedication they pour into their work each day.



ROYAL MALEWANE

On Valentines Day, our guests were treated to a day filled with love and romance at Malewane Lodge. From beautifully decorated setups to delightful romantic gestures, every moment was curated to create unforgettable memories. At Waterside, our guests enjoyed sundowners and indulged in relaxing spa experiences, making their Valentine's Day truly special.

To show appreciation for our dedicated staff, everyone received a thoughtful gift of roses and chocolates, spreading love and joy throughout the team.


Our Staff Drivers team also took some time to get off property and engage in team-building activities, fostering a stronger sense of camaraderie and teamwork. Our apprentice Rangers also engaged in hands-on learning experiences, guided by experienced team members, to enhance their skills and knowledge.



Furthermore, our team embraced innovation by creating unique welcome drinks and implementing initiatives like the compliments board in our canteen to uplift and recognise each other.


We continued our commitment to supporting the local community by partnering with SAME and contributing to initiatives like the porridge collection for schools in the surrounding area.


Meanwhile, our sightings have been nothing short of spectacular, with guests witnessing thrilling encounters with wildlife, including lion cubs and close-up interactions with nature.

Our dedicated team ensures that all equipment and furnishings are well-maintained to provide guests with a comfortable and memorable stay. From addressing issues caused by wildlife to ensuring the cleanliness and functionality of every aspect of our lodges, our team goes above and beyond to create exceptional guest experiences.


FOUNDATION UPDATE

Last week, The Foundation had a productive Trustee meeting where we discussed and approved several projects for the upcoming financial year. Ali McAdam (Founder of TRP Foundation) would like to share a brief overview of the projects that were approved:

Ali wants to express her gratitude to everyone for their contributions to the success of The Royal Portfolio Foundation, which enables us to make a meaningful impact through these projects. Your dedication and hard work are greatly appreciated.


She encourages everyone to consider getting involved in these projects and joining relevant committees to contribute to our community and conservation efforts. Together, we can make a difference and continue to support those in need.
