PROPERTIES UPDATE

Liz and Phil Celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary

Congratulations to Liz and Phil who are celebrating their 50th Golden Wedding Anniversary and Waterside has pulled out all the stops to make it an unforgettable anniversary.

Waterside

Waterside gave their Festive Season guests a complete experience and a perfect stay by creating a unique Christmas in the bush with loads of colour.

The New Year was welcomed with bubbles and a Marimba Band which the guests thoroughly enjoyed.

Malewane Lodge

Malewane team were in high spirits and not only gave the guest the complete experience, but also the festive experience! We want to thank each and every team member that worked so hard over the busy period, we appreciate you!

Haley Meyer (Floor manager) organized a Secret Santa for Malewane Lodge and made our staff very excited about the festivities.

The Malewane team pulled out all the stops to ensure that the tables and settings were perfect for each occasion.

For New Year's, Chef Archie and his team created a stunning menu.

Birkenhead House

Both, the Christmas dinner and New Year's Eve celebration, went very well. Our Guests enjoyed our African Theme and the hotel is currently very busy.

La Residence

We had an incredible festive season at La Residence. We hosted 86 guests for Christmas Day and 38 guests on New Year's Eve.

It’s hard to put words to the madness and hard work that went into it, so we made a lovely video to showcase it. Not all staff are captured in the photos, but a big thank you to the whole team for a successful festive season and to Leana Nienaber (Group Events Coordinator) for helping to coordinate it. We were excited to have Edward Morton (Royal Ambassador) join us as our Phantom on New Year's Eve. Also a big thank you to those who didn’t play an upfront role during the events but without who nothing would have been possible.

The Silo Hotel

The Festive Period at The Silo Hotel was a spectacular time. A bustling hotel, with many great events and holidays to celebrate. From creative lunches, to Elaborate gingerbread houses, special Turndowns, and a show-stopping new years eve celebration, all staff members worked hard in ensuring no request was too large and no detail was too small. Well done and thank you to everyone!

The Granary Café also launched a new menu. The Chefs created some beautiful new dishes which can be enjoyed by all our guests!

TRAINING UPDATE

A huge congratulations from Wayve Kolevsohn (Group Beverage Manager) to everyone who took part and passed the WSET Level 1! 95% of participants passed the test and the ones who did not will have another chance in early February. This qualification provides a hands-on introduction to the world of wine. Participants explored the main types and styles of wine through sight, smell, and taste, while also gaining the basic skills to describe wines accurately and make food and wine pairings.

FOUNDATION UPDATE

To end the year, a foundation trustee meeting was held in December. The objective of these meetings is to review donations and how the funds were spent as well as look at new projects for the upcoming year. Ali McAdam highlighted the fact that we are very confident that the funds were well spent. Thanks to our foundation committee members working on the ground in close proximity to our beneficiaries making a huge difference in a lot of people's lives.

Thank you to everyone involved and we are looking forward to seeing what will be achieved in 2023!

Here is a selection of highlights from our ongoing projects, which were also shared with our guests thanks to the marketing team!
